Work Project

This project came about after I started pricing Dry Erase boards for our office. We wanted a sizable board to list all upcoming events and appointments because it is getting so busy around here. If you don't know, Dry Erase boards can cost you upwards of $150 so we made this one for under $20 (includes board, screw anchors and tape)
We found this board at Lowe's for $10 bucks. Woo Hoo! Great start to the day.
First we taped off borders b/c we wanted to create a calendar. I would suggest finding tape that is thinner that what we used but you live, you learn.

Then we measured and taped off blocks for the day of the week header and for the days.

Then we taped tiny little boxes in the left corner for the days and printed off the days of the week and used double sided tape to stick them to the board. I think if I had it to do again; I would get a package of Velcro numbers from a teacher supply store and affix numbers instead.

All in all a very successful and cheap project!

Dear Miley... WTHeck?!

So apparently Miley Cyrus decided that pole dancing would be appropriate for the Teen Choice Awards.
Pic courtesy of MTV.com

When asked about her performance she said, "[My] performance tonight is funny, but I wanted it to be about [something more]," she said. "I'm like, 'This is to represent where I am from. I'm so proud of it.'"
I'm sorry I must have missed the part where Miley is "from" a strip club.
And please look at the face of that girl in the crowd! You know she is thinking "OMG Miley, I'm a little bit scared of you right now."

Only myself to blame

So I went to the doctor yet again and he is referring me to a GI specialist to check for ulcers. He is pretty sure though that the culprit of all of my stomach problems could be... Ibuprofen. That's right! The OTC drug that I take no more than 3 or 4 doses of in a month can cause your stomach to "rot" and somehow strip the lining of the stomach. Imagine my surprise when I found out that I could be causing all of the pain myself.
Well, I still have to go to the other doctor and have an endoscopy to check for any ulcers in my stomach since the sonogram can't detect ulcers.
Oh and I'm not pregnant. Which I was hoping I could blame this 7 pound weight gain on. I guess I again have only myself to blame. Myself and Central Market for their delicious gelato.

I'm falling apart!

Okay... maybe that's a bit of an exaggeration but here's the rundown.

Eye doctor appt: I have night blindness! Ok, ok so I’m not blind, but I do need to wear glasses at night. I’ve been complaining for a while now while driving at night but I thought it was normal… because it’s dark. Who knew those halos around the street lights weren’t actually there?

Dentist appt: Scheduled for next week. I’m having severe pain when I eat sweets on the right side on my mouth on the bottom right teeth. And when I brush my teeth on that spot. And when I let cold drinks wander in that direction. I noticed it a while ago but it was REALLY painful when I took a heaping bite of sopapilla and immediately was forced to spit it out. I will admit that for a split second I considered pushing past the pain but it was just too much. We’ll see how that visit turns out.

Doctor appt:
So I don’t have H Pylori. Now to figure out what is causing all of my stomach issues. Now to find a new doctor. Oh the joys.

Now for the glad game:
I get to pick out cute glasses. I’m forced to cut back on sweets. And I guess that last would be… I’ve narrowed down one disease that I do not have.

How cute is she?!?!

Helicobacter Pylori

It sounds yucky. And the very thought of bacteria living in the lining of my stomach makes me gag. Yet this is what the doc thinks is causing all my tummy trouble. We shall see when I get the blood results in. Until then my stomach is being sedated.

They try to make MILK look "sexy" in those ads, but there is nothing sexy about it

So I've had these weird stomach issues for 3 weeks now.
I've tried Pepcid, Pepto, Prilosec and Gavascon.
I've given up coffee, diet coke, and all things caffeine.
According to WebMD I could have 20 different diseases, so I chose one that I could test myself: milk allergies / lactose intolerance. Apparently, they are two different ailments, but for my experiment they both involve avoiding all things dairy.
Did you know there is dairy in just about everything?
Bread- check
Cereal (sneaky little ingredient called whey- in most of my cereals)- check
Lean pockets- check
Yogurt, ice cream, and all things cheese- check, check and check
I could go on and on...

So I'm on a quest to keep a food diary to see if this avoidance causes any changes in the way I feel. On one hand I hope that it does but on the other... I really love cheese enchiladas and ice cream. I'm torn.
I've heard there is a link between milk allergies and eczema so it might just be that my body does not heart things that come from a cow. We'll see...
I have a doctor's appointment next week. I'll keep you posted :)
